Yesterday, ICC Switzerland hosted its first “Meet and Greet Session” with the Arbitration Nomination Committee at the offices of Bär & Karrer in Zurich.
The event was designed for arbitrators embarking on their careers in arbitration. It provided participants with valuable insights into the ICC arbitrator appointment process, introduced the members of the Swiss Nomination Committee and created a platform for direct and open exchange.
The session began with a presentation by Dr. Simon Gabriel, President of the Swiss Commission of Arbitration and ADR, offering participants practical insights into the ICC nomination process. His practical insights into how arbitrators are appointed offered participants a deeper understanding of the Swiss Nomination Committee’s work and laid the foundation for the discussions that followed.
The interactive Q&A session covered a broad range of questions from the audience, including how to become an arbitrator, the criteria applied in the nomination process, and the Committee’s perspectives on broadening the pool of candidates. The open exchange highlighted the importance of transparency and dialogue in strengthening the arbitration community.
We sincerely thank Bär & Karrer for hosting us and for the excellent apéro riche on their rooftop terrace, which provided the perfect setting for networking and further exchange among participants.
Our gratitude also goes to our distinguished speakers, whose expertise made this event possible:
The evening combined professional depth with a collegial and engaging atmosphere. It clearly showed the value of dialogue between experienced practitioners and the next generation of arbitrators. We look forward to continuing this dialogue and further expanding the ICC community of arbitration professionals in Switzerland.
